It all started when my husband extended the porch on the front of our house as part of a Covid project. I began researching flowers I could grow with the extra room I had. I wanted to create a "front porch oasis" with a container garden, hanging flowers, a rattan sofa, lights... you get the vibe? I was very intrigued by dahlias and all the different varieties. Like many dahlia enthusiasts it got out of control quickly.
The following year was a tough year for my family personally and as a way of creating something to look forward to, I extended my dahlia garden into my backyard and added room for about 150 more dahlias. The addiction continues to grow as I look for more ways to grow more flowers... I know you can probably relate! :)
Photographing my garden is like therapy for me. I often just grab my camera and head outside, lose track of time with all the treasures I find with my camera. Using my macro lens to give life to things so tiny is one of my favourite ways to photograph my garden.
